In a time of fraying community and interpersonal relationships, rural school leaders are in search research-based approaches to strengthen connections sustain relationships among their students members. This article reports the findings from two studies (Moore, 2023; Weikert, 2022) documenting how why, during height pandemic, museum local came together use history knowledge design exhibit K-12 curriculum about pandemic vaccines. The describes museum’s place-conscious development process titled, Shots Felt Round World: Dr. Maurice Hilleman Montana Origins Fight Against Pandemics invite visitors view COVID-19 vaccine through histories infectious disease healthcare. also for kindergarten 12th grade (K-12) & Vaccines: Connecting Culture Scientific Curiosity was created tandem with exhibition by Teacher Advisory Council connect promote student learning integration math, science, history, critical thinking. Findings reveal that while subject vaccines is politically charged, emphasis on allowed both audiences find common ground, learn lens, community-school connections. concludes recommendations schools communities can contribute cross-community vitality.
